Salary Range: $102,500.00/yr - $227,500.00/yr
Description
This position is ideal for passionate individuals eager to make an impact through groundbreaking research in robotics. The Robotics Group at APL is an interdisciplinary team dedicated to developing innovative solutions that strengthen national defense, advance healthcare, enable space exploration, and solve urgent challenges facing our nation. We invite you to join our team if you are graduating with a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
As a valued team member, you will focus on defining and developing pioneering robotic concepts, systems, and algorithmic solutions. Current research areas encompass advanced robotic control, robot perception, reasoning, generative AI for robotic applications, novel robotic systems, human-robot teaming, multi-agent coordination, and safe autonomy. Your responsibilities may include:
• Developing and executing control algorithms and AI techniques.
• Designing and fabricating robotic systems.
• Leading research teams and projects.
• Publishing research findings and presenting results to various stakeholders.
• Proposing and working on your innovative research ideas.
Qualifications
You qualify for this position if you:
• Hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Have relevant experience in robotics or related applications of AI, computer science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or mathematics.
• Can obtain a DoD Secret-level security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
You will stand out if you have:
• Experience in developing and demonstrating algorithms for robotic control.
• Experience in AI/ML software development integrated with robotics hardware.
• Experience in designing and building robotics hardware.
• Proficiency in programming languages, especially Python and C++.
• Familiarity with robotics or AI libraries like ROS, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and OpenCV.
