OVERVIEW
Before the detail, here's the challenge you'd help us solve.
We build the embodied intelligence that moves real vehicles safely, and the ecosystem a billion machines will run on in the future. Very few people in AI can say this. Every role here, whatever the team, plugs into that.
Here’s what this particular role covers.
🛠️ ABOUT OUR ENGINEERING TEAMS
The Triage team in Application Software Japan, part of Product & Delivery, plays a critical role in the safety, reliability and triage efficiency of Wayve’s ADAS+ systems. It bridges Detective Engineering, Triage Engineering and the component teams, so that root causes in real-world vehicle behaviour are found quickly and accurately and issues get resolved faster.
🧠 YOUR DAY-TO-DAY
As a Customer Integration Engineer (ML Triaging Engineer), you’ll carry out first-level analysis of real-world run data and on-road interventions, work out likely root causes, and produce Top Issue reports across our test environments and operational domains. You’ll work closely with Detective Engineers on ambiguous or complex runs and with Triage Engineers on automated triage solutions, and you’ll own issues from identification through to documentation and reporting. As Wayve scales, so does the triage team, and you’ll handle multiple triage tasks, requests and safety incidents at the same time.
🧩 WHAT YOU’LL BE WORKING ON:
Performing first-level analysis on real-world run data and on-road interventions.
Investigating issues to identify or narrow down likely root causes, and working with Detective Engineers on deeper analysis of ambiguous or complex runs.
Partnering with Triage Engineers to support and improve automated triage solutions.
Managing the full issue lifecycle: identification, investigation, resolution, documentation, reporting and follow-through.
Adding accurate metadata to interventions, including root cause labels, Jira links and comments.
Validating triage automation bots, offline metrics and simulation suites, and making sure outputs meet quality standards.
Giving feedback on triage tooling and suggesting improvements to usability and speed.
Taking part in regular standups to address emerging concerns, set priorities and adapt to process changes.
Contributing to a high standard of safety, quality and operational discipline across triage.
🙌 YOU SHOULD APPLY IF:
Essential
Previous experience in ADAS, Autonomous Vehicles or Testing
Passion for Quality and Safety-first mindset.
Ability to learn and use a variety of internal tools and software platforms.
Comfort with technical terminology related to ADAS systems and software stacks.
Strong communication skills across cross-functional and time-zone-distributed teams.
Analytical thinking, logical reasoning, and bias-free problem-solving.
Detail-oriented approach with a focus on accuracy, even over extended sessions.
Strong debugging, documentation, and investigation skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Desirable
Experience with issue tracking and configuration management (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket).
Familiarity with software development concepts: source control, requirements analysis, build pipelines.
Exposure to software release workflows and release testing practices.
Basic experience with scripting (e.g., Bash, Python).
SQL/data analysis proficiency for deeper log review and trend analysis.
Experience with AV testing or robotics systems.
🌱 Not ticking every box? That’s totally okay! If you’re passionate about autonomy and keen to learn, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every requirement.
MORE ABOUT WAYVE:
🚀 Wayve is building the leading AI platform for autonomous driving. We are pioneering an end to end AI approach that enables vehicles to learn directly from real world experience, developing the ability to adapt, generalise and improve at scale. Instead of relying on hand coded rules or pre mapped environments, our AI Driver learns to drive by understanding the world around it. The result is technology that navigates complex urban environments with intelligence, precision and natural flow, unlocking meaningful advances in both safety and efficiency. We believe autonomy represents a once in a generation transformation in how people and goods move, comparable to the shift from horses to cars, and from human driven vehicles to intelligent machines.
Our ambition is to make autonomy universal. Wayve’s mapless and hardware agnostic AI platform integrates with global OEM partners, enabling continuous software evolution and unlocking advanced levels of automation from L2 plus through to L4 as our core AI model scales. In a race increasingly defined by intelligence and real world learning, Wayve is taking a distinct approach, building a generalisable driving intelligence that can power any vehicle, anywhere. By combining embodied AI with scalable deployment, we are creating technology that can be shaped to each OEM brand and driver experience, accelerating the transition to a safer, more intelligent future of mobility.

A quick, honest note before you apply.
Wayve is not a mature, fully-structured place with the playbook already written. Much of how we work is still being written, and if you join, you’ll help write it. That suits people who want real ownership more than people who need a settled structure from day one.
If that sounds like the kind of problem you want to spend your time on, we’d really like to hear from you.
