OVERVIEW

Before the detail, here's the challenge you'd help us solve.

We build the embodied intelligence that moves real vehicles safely, and the ecosystem a billion machines will run on in the future. Very few people in AI can say this. Every role here, whatever the team, plugs into that.

Here’s what this particular role covers.

🛠️ About our Fleet Operations Teams

Our Fleet Operations team is responsible for ensuring Wayve’s autonomous vehicle fleet is always safe, reliable, and ready to support all facets of development, testing, and demonstration. Working in close collaboration with engineering, drivers, and operations teams, we play a key role in supporting real-world deployment and hands-on innovation in autonomy.

  • Diagnose and repair a wide range of mechanical and electrical faults using OEM documentation and advanced diagnostic equipment.

  • Ensure vehicle readiness for high-visibility and public-facing demonstrations, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, reliability, and functionality.

  • Adhere to workshop safety practices and compliance standards, following risk assessments and regulations.

  • Accurately record faults, repairs, and parts used with digital tools, maintaining up-to-date service logs.

  • Communicate recurring issues or improvement suggestions to the Fleet Service Manager and Field Engineering teams.

  • Act as a hands-on fleet expert and proactively engage with drivers to resolve issues and uphold a positive operational experience.

🙌 You should apply if

  • You hold relevant qualifications in automotive servicing, diagnostics, and repairs

  • You have proven experience as a Vehicle Technician in an automotive servicing or fleet environment

  • You possess strong diagnostic skills with OEM or third-party equipment

  • You are familiar with mechanical and bodywork repairs using OEM repair manuals

  • You are comfortable with computer systems for recording and tracking maintenance tasks (e.g., Word, Excel)

  • You are comfortable collaborating with engineers, operations staff, and drivers

  • You have a strong understanding of workshop safety and compliance standards

  • You have a valid US driving license

§ 02

DESIRABLE

  • Experience working with vehicles equipped with ADAS or autonomous technology

  • Understanding of AV fleet operational needs in a high-uptime environment

  • Passion for emerging mobility technologies and willingness to learn new systems

🌱 Not ticking every box? That’s totally okay! If you’re passionate about autonomy and keen to learn, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every requirement.

This is a shift-based, full-time role based in Sunnyvale, CA. The reasonably estimated salary ranges from $90,000 to $100,000, plus competitive equity. Actual compensation is based on skills, qualifications, and experience.

More about Wayve:

🚀 Wayve is building the leading AI platform for autonomous driving. We are pioneering an end to end AI approach that enables vehicles to learn directly from real world experience, developing the ability to adapt, generalise and improve at scale. Instead of relying on hand coded rules or pre mapped environments, our AI Driver learns to drive by understanding the world around it. The result is technology that navigates complex urban environments with intelligence, precision and natural flow, unlocking meaningful advances in both safety and efficiency. We believe autonomy represents a once in a generation transformation in how people and goods move, comparable to the shift from horses to cars, and from human driven vehicles to intelligent machines.

Our ambition is to make autonomy universal. Wayve’s mapless and hardware agnostic AI platform integrates with global OEM partners, enabling continuous software evolution and unlocking advanced levels of automation from L2 plus through to L4 as our core AI model scales. In a race increasingly defined by intelligence and real world learning, Wayve is taking a distinct approach, building a generalisable driving intelligence that can power any vehicle, anywhere. By combining embodied AI with scalable deployment, we are creating technology that can be shaped to each OEM brand and driver experience, accelerating the transition to a safer, more intelligent future of mobility.
