JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Product Certification Engineer, you will support regulatory compliance and product certification activities for products being launched or imported into India. You will work closely with engineering, quality, regulatory teams, and third-party testing/certification agencies to ensure timely approvals from Indian regulatory bodies and compliance with applicable regulations. You will also support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities to ensure products meet certification and market access requirements. You will report to the Hiring Manager and have a hybrid schedule working in Bengaluru, India.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify mandatory certification requirements under Indian regulations, including BIS CRS, ISI, WPC ETA, TEC MTCTE, BEE, and other applicable schemes.
  • Conduct regulatory impact assessments for new products and product revisions.
  • Develop certification roadmaps, timelines, and compliance plans to support product launches.
  • Prepare, compile, and review certification documentation, including test reports, technical construction files (TCF), product drawings, BOMs, user manuals, datasheets, and RF/EMC reports.
  • Coordinate product testing with accredited laboratories in India and overseas and review test reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Submit certification applications and track approvals with regulatory agencies.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for certification bodies and government agencies, including BIS, WPC, TEC, and BEE.
  • Monitor regulatory changes, standards updates, annual renewals, and market surveillance requirements.
  • Maintain certification records, compliance documentation, dashboards, and risk reports.
  • Identify compliance risks and drive mitigation actions to support successful product launches.

THE ESSENTIALS - YOU WILL HAVE:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in product certification, regulatory compliance, or market access activities.
  • Experience supporting certifications for products launched or imported into India.
  • Strong understanding of Indian regulatory certification schemes and compliance processes.
  • Experience coordinating with testing laboratories, certification agencies, and government bodies.

THE PREFERRED - YOU MIGHT ALSO HAVE:

  • Experience with BIS CRS, ISI Marking, WPC ETA, TEC MTCTE, and BEE certification programs.
  • Knowledge of Indian Standards (IS), IEC, ISO, RF, EMC, and product safety testing requirements.
  • Experience working with certification portals such as BIS and TEC.
  • Familiarity with technical documentation, BOM management, and compliance record management.
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) programs.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and compliance planning.
  • Experience working with accredited laboratories (NABL or international labs).
